In order to extensively interact with Members of Parliament on the sensitive issue of security concerns, President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to again meet with the legislators this morning in a space of one week.
Last week, the President attended Parliament where he addressed MPs and the nation on the planned interventions to clampdown on the soaring rate of criminality which has left many citizens in panic.
During the address, Museveni listed a ten point plan which included the revival of the 999 Police call helpline, ban on hooded attire for those using boda bodas, electronic number plates, building a modern forensic lab, installation of CCTV cameras among others.
However, during the address, MPs did not get an opportunity to field questions to the President as the Parliamentary rules of procedure do not allow for that to happen in the chamber. As such, the Speaker asked the President to schedule for another engagement with the MPs which he promised to do.
Now, the MPs have been invited by the clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige to meet with the President on Wednesday morning. According to the letter addressed to the MPs, the meeting will take place at the Office of the Prime Minister conference hall beginning 11am.

One of the issues likely to be raised by the legislators is how the President intends to fund the rather ambitious security interventions since they weren’t included in the 2018/19 national budget that was passed weeks ago.
