President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has summoned the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Parliamentary Caucus for a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday April 26, 2022, at Kololo Independence Grounds.
According to a letter written by the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Dr Kenneth Omona, to the NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong, Museveni will chair the meeting on scheduled for 2:00pm at Kololo independence Grounds.
“The purpose of the meeting is for members to receive a brief on the economic situation,” Omona noted.
The NRM Parliamentary Party Caucus Spokesperson, Brandon Kintu, said the issues on the agenda include; commodity prices, Lubowa Specialised Hospital, and the controversial coffee agreement.
The Deputy Chief Whip also indicated that members of the Caucus are eager and ready for the brief.
“The President directed us to inform members and organise accordingly. We are ready for H.E.’s address on the Economic Situation,” said Hon. Herbert Kinobere.
In his Easter message, Museveni indicated that he would discuss with the caucus the issue of the high commodity prices before addressing Ugandans.
That aside, Members of Parliament expressed concern over delays in the construction and completion of the Lubowa Specialised Hospital.
The developer, Italian investor Enrica Pinetti, is also on the spotlight over a coffee processing agreement between the government of Uganda and her company, Uganda Vinci Coffee Company Limited- UVVCCL, what has since raised eyebrows among the public.
