National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer and incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to resume his campaign trail this week in Pakwach District, marking the start of his West Nile campaign tour after a brief pause to attend to state duties.
According to the NRM Secretariat, President Museveni will kick off his rallies on October 7 in Pakwach before proceeding to Nebbi and Zombo on October 11, and later to Obongi, Madi-Okollo, Yumbe, Koboko, Terego, Maracha, Moyo, Arua, Arua City, and Adjumani in the subsequent days.
The West Nile leg of the campaign falls under the NRM’s broader theme, “Protecting the Gains,” which emphasises consolidating peace, economic stability, and social transformation achieved under the ruling party’s leadership.
NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong confirmed preparations for the rallies in a statement, noting that the campaign structures were in place to ensure a strong turnout and effective messaging across the subregion.
“I am in Arua together with Hon. Hamson Obua, Rt. Lt. Tushabe Moses, Hajjat Medina, and other senior leaders as we meet and mobilise ahead of H.E. Museveni’s campaign rallies in the region,” Todwong posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The momentum is building!”
Earlier, Todwong held a strategic meeting in Gulu City with district campaign task forces from the Acholi subregion, where he was joined by Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, the NRM Director for Finance and Administration, and district executive members. The meeting sought to harmonise strategies and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of Museveni’s northern campaign schedule.
NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Hamson Denis Obua, also urged party structures to aim for a commanding victory in the region.
“Our goal is clear — we must deliver more than 90% of the votes to the NRM,” Obua told party leaders during the Gulu meeting.
Museveni’s campaign restart in West Nile is expected to draw significant crowds as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its traditional strongholds while highlighting ongoing government projects in infrastructure, education, and health.
The NRM Secretariat has indicated that the President’s message will focus on economic recovery, youth empowerment, and community development, key pillars of the party’s 2026–2031 manifesto.
