Kampala – President Yoweri Museveni has made significant judicial appointments, including the reappointment of Hon. Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah as an Acting Judge of the High Court for another year.
Lady Justice Bukirwa is a judge on the High Court of Uganda, often referred to as “Lady Justice Bukirwa”. She currently serves as a Resident Judge in the Jinja Circuit.
In 2024, Lady Justice Bukirwa was removed from office as a judge at Jinja High Court.
The Principal Judge Justice Zeija Flavian instructed Bukirwa to vacate her office, citing the fact that her contract as acting judge was nearing its end and the judiciary had not received her appointment tool from the appointing authority.
The reappointment of Hon. Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah as an acting judge for another year underscores the government’s confidence in her judicial expertise.
The new list of appointees also features key changes in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and High Court.
