Museveni Promotes UPDF Engineering College Head, 4 Others

President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the armed forces has promoted 5 senior officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to further ranks.

According to the list published by the Defense spokesperson, Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso on Tuesday which this reporter has seen, the officers include the head of the Engineering College, Brig Gen Dennis Asiimwe who has been promoted to the rank of Major General.

Others are Colonels John Nsubuga Wasswa, Godfrey Sambwa Kimbowa, Edson Muhanguzi and Frank Kyakonye who have all been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

“The UPDF fraternity congratulates them for their patriotic service to our country Uganda,” says the Defense spokesperson.

In April this year, the President promoted 40 General Officers and 1,393 UPDF personnel to various ranks where the former deputy Defense spokesperson, Lt Col Deo Akiiki, and the head of the State House Anti Corrution Unit, Lt Col Edith Nakalema, where elevated to full colonels.
