Museveni Promotes 918 UPDF Officers

President Museveni, also the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, has promoted 898 and confirmed 20 Senior and Junior Officer ranks of the UPDF.

According to Defence Spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, 5 officers were promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General, 3 were elevated from Acting Colonel to Colonel, 15 were promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, 3 from Acting Lieutenant Colonel to Lieutenant Colonel and 10 from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.

Among others promoted are 10 Acting Majors who were elevated to Major, 63 Captains to Major, 4 Acting Captains to Captain, 155 Lieutenants to Captain and 650 Second Lieutenants to Lieutenant.                                

“The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulates the Senior and Junior Officers upon their well-deserved promotions and confirmed ranks,” said Brig Gen Kulayigye.
