Hoima – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged government support to Mr David Irumba, a thriving agribusiness entrepreneur in Bulera East Cell, Kyentale Ward, Hoima East Division, Hoima City.

During a visit to Mr Irumba’s farm, the President commended his dedication to wealth creation, crediting his success to the government’s efforts in promoting economic empowerment.

“Mr Irumba’s achievements are proof that the government’s message of wealth creation is working. His business is a great example of how Ugandans can transform their lives through agribusiness,” President Museveni said.

From Three Acres to a Multi-Million Enterprise

Mr Irumba started his agribusiness journey in 2018 with just three acres of coffee. Today, he has expanded into poultry and goat farming, employing 50 workers and generating significant income.

His 50,000-layer poultry farm produces 500 trays of eggs daily, earning him UGX 150 million per month, with projections to reach UGX 1 billion in annual revenue within five months. His coffee farm also brings in UGX 1.6 million monthly.

Grateful for the President’s visit, Mr Irumba acknowledged the role of the Uganda Development Bank (UBD) in financing his startup through a loan. He also credited government initiatives, particularly access to electricity and improved road infrastructure, for enabling his success.

Call for More Support

As the proprietor of Keywood Group Limited, Mr Irumba urged Ugandans to embrace government programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) to seize available economic opportunities.

He further requested additional support, including an egg-breaking machine, a feed mixer, and a delivery truck to enhance his operations.

In response, President Museveni pledged a feed mixer worth UGX 80 million, an egg-breaking machine worth UGX 120 million and a delivery truck to facilitate egg distribution.

The President also assured him that the Ministry of Agriculture would address the farm’s water supply needs to support poultry farming and zero-grazing for cattle.

Praise for Government’s Economic Vision

Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo praised President Museveni for his visionary leadership in transforming Uganda into a money-driven economy.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja commended the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, including improved road networks and the ongoing construction of Hoima International Airport.

Inspired by his success, Mr Irumba now plans to turn his farm into a model demonstration centre to train and inspire other farmers in the region.
