President Museveni met with the Central Executive Committee of the MK Movement at State House, Entebbe on Wednesday evening.
The movement is led by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the president’s son and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations.
The leaders who met the president included; Balaam Barugahara (National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda), Michael Mawanda of MK Army, Michael Nuwagira of Team Chairman MK Project, Michael Katungi, the Commissioner of External Affairs MK Movement and Coordinator MK Avengers, Andrew Mwenda, the Spokesperson of the MK Movement and his deputy Daudi Kabanda as well as MK Movement Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Lillian Aber.
According to a communication from State House, the president noted the efforts of the group towards unity and cohesion of the country.
“He spoke to them about the need for Patriotism, Pan-Africanism and Democracy in the Socioeconomic transformation of Uganda and Africa.”
In January this year, Muhoozi launched the MK Army in Kapchorwa town Sebei sub-region as the first major event of the pressure group.
He managed to raise Shs150m from elders in the area to support the group’s activities. He was also gifted land by Maj (rtd) Leonard Chemonges to build MK offices in the municipality.
At the start of April, the MK Movement National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda, Balaam Barugahara, launched the first-ever MK Movement Diaspora Chapter and leadership structure in London, United Kingdom.
The members are laying the groundwork for Muhoozi to become the next President of Uganda.
