President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, today joined thousands of believers at the Command the Future Conference held at Miracle Centre Cathedral, Rubaga.
The conference, running from 12th to 16th November 2025, brought together Christian leaders, local delegates, and international speakers, including Dr Paula White from the United States, the Guest of Honour. The event focuses on faith, leadership, and wealth creation.

In his remarks, President Museveni said he attended the conference to glorify God for His blessings on Uganda, the Church, and other faith communities. Reflecting on his early involvement with Scripture Union in the 1960s, he noted that biblical grounding shaped his leadership journey.
“What Robert Kayanja is saying resonates with me because I was very active with Scripture Union in the 1960s. I might have been a Bishop if life had taken a different path,” he said.

He added that reading the Bible provided guidance that informed his decision-making: “Because I read the Bible, I was guided in many areas, which has helped me lead effectively.”
Addressing past debates on banning churches, President Museveni explained that his approach was rooted in scripture: “People wanted to ban you, but I remembered in the Bible when some said to Jesus that others were casting out demons like Him, He said, ‘Do not stop them. If they are not against us, they are with us.’”

He emphasised that his main concern was for Born-again churches to abide by the law, leaving judgment of righteousness to God: “It is not my job to know who is right or wrong. My only concern is that the law is not broken. The rest is for God to judge.”
President Museveni also commended pastors for engaging in wealth creation, describing work as a biblical principle: “Jesus preached the gospel, healed the sick, fed the hungry, but He also worked in Joseph’s carpentry. I am glad to see pastors like Kayanja creating wealth responsibly.”

He encouraged believers to emulate the Puritans, who fled Europe to America in 1623 and built prosperity through hard work:
“Christians build nations. The Puritans left Europe, overcame prejudice, worked hard, and contributed to America’s prosperity.” Concluding, he urged Christians to influence society through deeds: “Let your light shine before men so that people see your good works and praise your Father in heaven.”

Pastor Robert Kayanja, lead preacher at Miracle Centre Cathedral, thanked President Museveni for fostering an environment of peace and freedom of worship. “Your Excellency, you are not just a leader, you are a father. In 1986, when security forces opposed our worship here, you said, ‘Let them worship.’ Today, we are seven million strong,” he said.
He added that the church’s growth and ministries thrive because of national stability: “God has changed our lives. All these pastors from different nations are here because you have provided peace and security. We were once under Kiwempe, but God has brought blessings.”

Pastor Kayanja assured the President of the church’s prayers and ongoing contribution to national development: “We shall continue praying for you, and God will do as He wishes. We have also begun faith diplomacy to help shape the future of our nation.”
The Command the Future Conference (12th–16th November 2025) is an international Christian gathering focused on: Faith-driven leadership, Wealth creation and economic empowerment and Spiritual renewal and national transformation. This year’s conference attracted thousands of local and international delegates, highlighting Uganda’s freedom of worship and its growing global role.
