President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been hailed for his exceptional leadership and role in transforming the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) into a modern and professional army.
At a pass-out ceremony for officers completing the Advanced Intelligence Course at the School of Defence Intelligence and Security in Migyera, Nakasongola, Maj Gen David Mugisha, representing the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, praised President Museveni’s focus on training schools.
He said the strategy has been pivotal in moulding the UPDF into a “lethal, productive, reliable, dependable, and pro-people force”.
Maj Gen Mugisha urged the graduating officers to treasure their newly acquired knowledge, reminding them, “As you prepare to apply the knowledge you have gained, remember that you’re serving the nation, not just yourselves.”
Brig Gen Julius Mbaine, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, emphasised that the training would equip officers to tackle modern challenges, including cyber threats.
Col James Muhumuza, Commandant of the School, stressed the importance of understanding the strategic environment and encouraged officers to maintain “professional discipline, honesty, and continuous learning”.
The ceremony was attended by Generals, Senior and Junior Officers, and representatives from Uganda Police Force and Uganda Prisons Service.
