Kyegegwa – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that the government has secured 10 square miles of land in Kyaka to establish a major industrial park, marking a significant step toward industrialisation in Kyegegwa District.
The park will host multiple factories, including an avocado processing plant, and is expected to boost job opportunities, value addition, and household incomes.
The President announced a campaign rally at Wekomire Parish, where he stated that residents had consistently expressed a strong interest in industrial development. He noted that factories remain central to Uganda’s economic transformation, currently employing 1.3 million people.
Unveiling the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto for 2026–2031, Museveni highlighted the party’s seven major achievements over the past 40 years, beginning with the restoration of peace. He said the people of Kyaka understand the value of stability, having hosted refugees for decades and experienced insecurity during the liberation struggle.

Infrastructure and Services
Museveni pointed to progress in roads and electricity, noting that tarmac once ended in Mityana, but the government has since rehabilitated and expanded road networks. He said the Kazo–Kabogore–Kyegegwa–Kapuyo road is among the next priority projects. All sub-counties in Kyegegwa are now connected to the national grid.
However, he acknowledged service delivery gaps highlighted in the district fact sheet. Forty-one parishes still lack a government primary school, while four new seed secondary schools are under construction to address shortages at the sub-county level.
In health, only nine of the district’s 19 sub-counties have functional facilities. The President announced plans to build or upgrade HCIIIs in Kigambo, Migongwe, Migamba, Ruhangire, Bugogo, Kyatega, Hapuuyo, Kakabara and Mpara.
On water, Museveni expressed concern that just 256 of 677 villages have access to safe water and pledged that the government will draw water from the River Muzizi to improve supply across the district.

Wealth Creation and PDM
The President encouraged residents to embrace the four-acre model to enter the money economy. He cautioned leaders against mismanagement of the Parish Development Model (PDM), insisting that each beneficiary must receive the full Shs1 million.
Leaders Pledge Support
Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Region, Hon. Jonard Asiimwe and Kyegegwa District Chairperson, Mr Wilson Byabona, all applauded the President’s development efforts. They pledged strong support for his leadership in the forthcoming elections.
