President Museveni has announced new appointments to Uganda’s judiciary.
The key appointments include the Deputy Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Zeija Flavian, and Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Muzamil Mutangula Kibeedi.
Museveni also appointed new justices for the Court of Appeal.
They include; Hon. Justice Ssekaana Musa, Hon. Lady Justice Sabiiti Cornelia Kakooza, Stella Alibateese, Hon. Lady Justice Florence Nakacwa, Hon. Byaruhanga Jesse Rugyema, Musisi John Mike, Hon. Lady Justice Ketra Kitariisibwa Katunguka and Hon. Lady Justice Nambayo Esta.
In addition to these senior appointments, the President has named 21 acting judges of the High Court for a two-year term, effective upon assumption of their duties.
The newly appointed acting judges are: HW Sarah Langa Siu, HW Rosemary Bareebe Ngabirano, HW Mary Babirye, Lillian Alum Omara, Charles Kasibayo, HW Mary Kaitesi Kisakye, Susan Odongo, Karooli Lwanga Ssemogerere, Joanita Gertrude Bushara, Simon Peter Kinobe Mutegeki, Vincent Opyene, Sarah Birungi Kalibbala, Isaac Teko Bony, Deepa Verma, Flavia Grace Lamuno, Fatuma Nanziri Bwanika, Kwemara Kafuuzi Gelase, Godfrey Himbaza, Andrew Khaukha, Dr. Ginamia Melody Ngwatu and Ida Nakiganda.
The President has forwarded the names and CVs of all appointees to Parliament for approval, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining a strong and effective judiciary in Uganda.
