President Museveni has appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as Senior Presidential Advisor.
The appointment which is one of the Friday changes in the Uganda Police Force takes immediate effect.
The former Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI) was in 2022 named the Police Chief of Joint Staff .
As the Chief of Joint Staff, Maj Gen Kandiho led all directorates of the Police Force where he infused his wealth of experience in intelligence led operations and investigations.
Several Police Officers at the Naguru Police Headquarters have told this news site that his aura of military discipline and precision in command and execution had inspired a sense of order and timeliness in the force.
As Chief of Military Intelligence, Kandiho is credited for obliterating terror cells that sought to compromise Uganda’s national security. During his tenure, he fostered collaboration with other security agencies and the CMI – led joint operations saw criminality in urban areas drop.
Maj Gen Kandiho is also credited for countering foreign hostile states’ attempts at undermining Uganda’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kandiho renowned for his intelligence credentials, joined the Forces aged 15 and has served in several capacities including the Joint Anti – Terrorism Task force (JATT) and Military Police.
The other senior military officers recalled from Police include Maj Gen Godfrey Tumusiime Katsigazi and Brig Gen Godfrey Golooba.
