The Supreme Court also welcomes Justice Muzamil Mutangula Kibeedi as a new Justice. Kibeedi’s extensive legal background is seen as a valuable asset to the highest court in the land.
A substantial expansion has taken place within the Court of Appeal, with eight new Justices appointed. The new appointees include prominent legal professionals such as Hon. Lady Justice Ketra Kitariisibwa Katunguka, Hon. Lady Justice Sabiiti Cornelia Kakooza, and seasoned lawyers from various fields. This expansion is expected to significantly reduce the backlog of cases at the appellate level.
In a move aimed at strengthening the High Court, twenty-one individuals have been appointed as acting judges for a two-year term. This cohort includes a mix of experienced lawyers, magistrates, and academics, demonstrating a commitment to bringing diverse expertise to the bench.
