President Yoweri Museveni, has revealed that the Allied Democratic Forces(ADF) overestimated themselves when they attacked the Works and Transport Minister General Edward Katumba Wamala on June1.

On June 1, 2021, assailants moving on motorcycles shot at the Works Minister’s vehicle killing his daughter and driver. Katumba also sustained bullet wounds on both arms.

Addressing the country on Saturday evening, the president said this was a stupid move for the ADF since it exposed them.

“If ADF had remained quiet and not attacked Gen Katumba we wouldn’t have known them,” he said.

Museveni added, “They are overestimating themselves, they wanted to kill Gen Katumba because he is a big government person, although Jamilu Mukulu was arrested, they wanted to show they are still there (in existence).”

The president noted that the ADF, wanted to finish Gen. Katumba because he is in charge of constructing the road connecting to Congo which is their hideout.

“They also thought that Katumba being the Minister of Works and was to work on road in DRC which is their territory, how dare he, but what they did was suicidal,” he said.

Museveni advised those hiding within (Uganda) and the neighboring countries to surrender before its late.

“My advice to those hiding here, in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Congo or South Africa is to surrender and save themselves. If they don’t come out, they will all die, the UPDF that defeated them in 2007, is now stronger,” he said.
