In a move set to revolutionise the pay-TV landscape in Uganda, MultiChoice Uganda has launched a new, flexible payment option dubbed “Ka Weekie”, enabling DStv and GOtv customers to subscribe weekly for as little as UGX 5,000.

Unveiled this morning at Mestil Hotel in Nsambya, Kampala, the “Ka Weekie” plan is aimed at accommodating customers who may not be able to afford monthly subscriptions, offering them the chance to enjoy premium content—including kids shows, local series, football matches, and international entertainment—on their own terms.

“This is a game changer,” said Rinaldi Jamugisa, Public Relations and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda. “It is a campaign that allows our customers to make more flexible payments and enjoy all our content. This just caters to those who would rather not commit to the 30-day subscription.”

Customers can now subscribe to any DStv and GOtv package weekly by dialling *206# or using the #MyDStv App and MyGOtv App. The available packages include GOtv Lite, Value, Plus, Max, Supa, and Supa+, on the one hand, and DStv Lumba, DStv Access, DStv Family and DStv Compact, on the other, with full access granted for seven days at reduced rates.

Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, emphasised the importance of the offering in addressing real-life challenges faced by ordinary Ugandans.

“Many of our customers don’t always have money for a full month. That doesn’t mean they can’t afford to watch TV—it just means they need flexibility,” Asiimwe said. “Whether it’s a parent with kids home for a three-week holiday or someone hosting guests in an Airbnb, Ka Weekie fits into their lifestyle.”

Asiimwe noted that the campaign was informed by customer feedback and inspired by the real-world use cases of how people consume content today. “Our customers have asked—and we’ve listened. This is about putting power back into their hands. They can now control when and how they watch, without breaking the bank,” he added.

The plan also targets previously disconnected customers, offering them a more accessible way to reconnect and enjoy DStv and GOtv services.

Rinaldi Jamugisa further explained that this innovation marks an important milestone for the brand, saying: “We are committed to innovation and to responding to our customers’ needs. Ka Weekie is not a replacement for the traditional 30-day option—it’s an expansion. It increases choice and ensures that no one is left behind.”

Ka Weekie is now available across all DStv and GOtv packages, with prices scaled down to suit the one-week viewing window. “This doesn’t mean the monthly subscription is done away with; it only means that we are giving you an alternative that allows you to pay when you want,” added Jamugisa.

For instance, a weekly version of the top-tier GOtv Supa+ package, which usually costs UGX 137,000 per month, is now accessible for a fraction of that price. Effective April 1st, 2025, DStv Uganda offers weekly payment options, including Lumba at UGX 5,000, Access at UGX 14,000, Family at UGX 22,000, and Compact at UGX 37,000 per week.

The move positions MultiChoice Uganda as the first pay-TV provider in the country to introduce such a flexible payment model—a step that could reshape how Ugandans engage with digital television.

“We are leading the way in customer-centric innovation in the digital entertainment space,” Asiimwe concluded. “This is just the beginning.”
