Jinja City  — MTN Uganda has unveiled the newly constructed Jinja City Roundabout, a striking new landmark dedicated to celebrating connection, community, and shared progress.

The project, launched during Customer Appreciation Week 2025, represents the telecom giant’s gratitude to the people of Uganda — especially the customers and communities at the heart of its success.

The event, held in Jinja City, brought together leaders from the Jinja City Town Council, local government officials, MTN executives, and members of the community in a vibrant celebration of partnership and progress.

Speaking at the unveiling, MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge described the new roundabout as a “bold symbol of partnership, connection, and progress.”

“More than just a landmark, the Jinja Roundabout reflects what’s possible when communities, government, and the private sector work together to shape a brighter future,” she said.

MTN Chief Marketing Officer Sylvia El-Sheikh extended heartfelt appreciation to customers for their loyalty and trust over the years.

“Thank you for trusting us, believing in us, and growing with us. This new landmark is our way of saying we see you, we value you, and we remain committed to building a brighter future together,” she said.

Trade Manager Mildred Nsinda, who led the project, highlighted the innovative spirit behind the design and construction of the new roundabout.

“We were challenged to go beyond brick and mortar, and today we celebrate a vibrant, innovative symbol of progress built with passion and purpose,” Nsinda remarked.

The new roundabout stands as a visual representation of MTN’s commitment to the people of Jinja and to Uganda’s broader development agenda.

It underscores the company’s belief that collaboration drives transformation — a value reflected in its ongoing partnerships with local authorities and community organisations.

Jinja’s Timeless Charm

The project also celebrates the cultural and natural beauty of Jinja City, often called the Adventure Capital of East Africa. With the majestic River Nile flowing through it, Jinja is not only a hub of tourism and trade but also a symbol of Uganda’s enduring energy and potential.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, hailed the new Jinja Roundabout as “a beacon of pride and progress for the people of Busoga.”

He invited visitors to “discover Jinja’s timeless charm — from the tranquil flow of the Nile to the laughter and warmth of its people.”

Reflecting on Jinja’s growing prominence, the Kyabazinga noted that “the city continues to shine as a gateway to Uganda’s cultural heritage and economic opportunity.”

He praised MTN Uganda for “investing not only in infrastructure but in the spirit and identity of the communities it serves.”

As part of the celebrations, MTN reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Uganda’s growth and empowering communities across the country.

“This is the spirit of a stronger Jinja,” the company said in a statement. “The future is bright when we’re together — because #TogetherWeAreUnstoppable.”

The unveiling of the Jinja City Roundabout marks a new milestone in MTN Uganda’s journey of connecting people, celebrating community, and inspiring progress — a testament to the power of unity and partnership in driving transformation.
