Hellen Kirungi, Senior Manager of Loans and Savings at MTN MOMO, has been awarded the coveted Chartered Marketer designation by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM UK), marking a significant career milestone and reinforcing her status as a leader in Africa’s marketing landscape.
Celebrated by the Uganda Marketers Society (UMS), Kirungi’s achievement highlights her exceptional commitment to professional growth, strategic leadership, and continuous learning in the fields of fintech, telecom, and consumer value proposition.
Reflecting on her journey, Kirungi shared: “My career began with a degree in Information Technology, but life had bigger plans. When I transitioned into marketing, a good friend (Primera Muthoni) encouraged me to pursue the CIM path. That decision changed everything.”
Since enrolling with CIM in 2018, Kirungi has earned certifications at Level 4 and Level 6 and completed an MBA. Inspired by marketing thought leaders like Rogers Anguzu, she set her sights on becoming a Chartered Marketer—an accomplishment that demands rigorous development and professional mastery.
“It’s been a journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning. The discipline and resilience required were immense, but so were the rewards,” Kirungi noted. “To anyone considering this path: bet on yourself. Growth is intentional.”

The Chartered Marketer status, awarded by CIM UK, is the highest recognition of marketing professionalism, denoting strategic competence, ethical integrity, and a commitment to lifelong learning. It sets professionals apart as global leaders in the field.
In a congratulatory message on X (formerly Twitter), the Uganda Marketers Society (UMS) applauded Kirungi’s dedication and her contribution to elevating marketing standards in Uganda.
“#CharteredMarketer Congratulations Hellen Kirungi (MBA, ACIM, CMktr)— an outstanding ambassador of Ugandan marketing excellence.”
UMS is Uganda’s leading professional marketing body, affiliated with international institutions like CIM (UK). It supports career growth, professional development, and ethical standards for marketers across the country.
Kirungi’s achievement comes at a time when marketing is increasingly intertwined with digital innovation, customer insight, and strategic agility—traits she embodies in her role at MTN MOMO.
