Popular Ugandan rapper, Gravity Omutujju who is nursing wounds at Rubaga hospital in Kampala following an incident on Wednesday in which he was allegedly shot at by a security guard, is stable, according to Mityana municipality MP, Francis Zaake.
The shooting incident is reported to have occurred in Kassanda district on Wednesday night while the singer was enroute to a place called Rwebituri, Bukuya town council where he was slated to perform at a music show.
One of the witnesses who was accompanying Gravity said in a Police statement that they made a stopover at LK fuel station. They had arrived in Bukuya at around 7pm and had supper before heading to LK to refuel.
He said while the car was being refueled, Gravity was making a phone call to a one Sendagire who was hosting the concert, to pick them and lead them to the venue.
“After fueling the vehicle, we asked a security guard who was around to allow us and park the vehicle for a short time as we wait for someone to lead us to Rwebituri”.
It is these events that eventually led to the alleged shooting by the guard at the crew during which process bullets injured Gravity in the stomach area.
The guard has been identified as Amos Muhebwa.
Police said on Thursday that Muhebwa and two other suspsects have been arrested as investigations into the incident proceed.
Mityana municipality MP, Francis Zaake who visited the singer at Rubaga hospital on said he is stable and improving.
He said he had received a call on Wednesday night from one promoter, Nick, communicating that Gravity Omutujju was in danger in Mityana district.
Zaake said he then decided to arrange to have the ailing singer transported to Kampala where he would received better medical attention.
“It is reported that Gravity Omutujju twisted his body to dodge the bullets so he didn’t sustain serious injuries. The bullets only injured the exterior of his abdomen,” Zaake said.
“In the Hospital, he is improving and already out of danger. We wish him a quick recovery,” the legislator said in a statement.
