Movit Products Limited has handed over a cheque worth Shs 80 million to the Irene Gleeson Foundation as its contribution towards the upcoming Irene Gleeson charity walk.

With a focus on education, this year’s contribution will go towards the construction of Irene Gleeson’s community library and youth training resource centre.

“For over 4 years, Movit has contributed towards improving education conditions for millions of pupils in Northern Uganda and is still committed to supporting this cause to ensure that the dream of Maama Irene Gleeson lives on.

Receiving the check, Irene Gleeson Foundation, Executive Director, John Paul Kifafasi applauded Movit for their continued support towards this charity walk and other initiatives spearheaded by the Foundation.

Kiffasi further called upon the people of Northern Uganda and Uganda as a whole to come in large numbers to support the Irene Gleeson charity walk 2018 and urging that together they can come together to celebrate and commemorate the exemplary life of an extra ordinary person Maama Irene.

The Irene Gleeson charity walk is one of the biggest annual celebrations in Kitgum and it will be held on July 22 at Boma grounds in Kitgum district.

The walk will be conducted in memory of Maama Irene Gleeson who left Australia and decided to settle in Northern Uganda (in 1992), a region which was considered very volatile part of the world by then.

She worked tirelessly to the betterment of education conditions in the region through building schools, hospitals, rehabilitation of homes among others till her passing on in 2013.

Bruce Mpamizo, the Director Business Growth at Movit guaranteed the companies commitment towards support the Iren Gleeson charity walk and all other Irene Gleeson foundation activities.

“Its our responsibility as an organisation to support activities and initiatives that elevate education and health conditions in Uganda, We give not because we have a lot but because we care about the well being of the communities we operate in,” Mbamizo said as he handed over the dummy cheque.
