Victoria University has in a turn of events reinstated Shanitah Namuyimbwa alias Bad Black as their Brand Ambassador only a day after clarifying that she is only their student.
It all started with Bad Black signing a contract with Victoria University through its Vice Chancellor on Monday, which was thereafter widely shared on different social media platforms. The contract indicate that the university hired her as a Brand Ambassador to market the university and its activities for a period of one year.
Bad Black would as well not hold the excitement as she took to her social media platforms to explain how she is a lucky one to land a Brand Ambassadorial role of a University such as Victoria despite her dismal academic qualifications.
“I can’t explain but coming live to address in English as I am the official brand ambassador of Victoria university, I am so happy for my children getting a bursary for international schools,” Black said.
But as her appointment received mixed reactions from members of the public including Public Relations experts, with some questioning the motive and others supporting the decision, the university came out and clarified that Black is only a student not a brand ambassador.
While addressing the media, the vice-chancellor of Victoria University, Dr Lawrence Muganga, said Bad Black is pursuing Digital Marketing and English lessons not a brand ambassador.
He said the university is helping her to realise her dream of becoming a digital marketer and English guru.
“Ms Shanitah has a goal of becoming a fluent English speaker and Digital marketing guru and that’s how Victoria University comes to help her, the courses she is to take are to improve and make her a better person in the English language and Digital marketing,” he said, noting that all students of the University are its ambassadors and so was Bad Black.
But again in another turn of events, Victoria University has Wednesday in another Statement reaffirmed its first communication. It says Bad Black is their Brand Ambassador.
“We would like to reaffirm that Ms Shanitah Namuyimbwa is our University Brand Ambassador contrary to the interpretation made in some media circles,” reads the University’s statement in part.
“This communication reaffirms our initial and continued position that Ms Namuyimbwa is our University Brand Ambassador. The University has to the effect signed a Memorandum of Understanding with her,” adds Victoria University.
The institution says Black has since been explained to, her responsibilities and obligations as a Brand Ambassador of a University of their calibre.
The University says their job is to transform and rehabilitate those that desperately need to become better people saying Bad Black is a better example of such people that need urgent help to transform themselves.
