Miria Obote Critically Ill, Says Son, Jimmy Akena

Mama Miria Obote, wife to former President, Apollo Milton Obote is reportedly ill and in critical condition, according to her son, Jimmy Akena.

Miria Obote was last Sunday, November 4, 2018 was admitted in hospital with a chest infection.

According to the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President and son to Mama Miria, Jimmy Akena, the mother’s situation is still wanting.

“The medical team are now assessing the possibility of her suffering from viral Pneumonia and such that last night, 9th November, she was moved to the High Dependency Unit for closer monitoring,” Akena said in a social media post.

Akena added that; “The medical team is working competently towards restoring her good health”.

He has announced the party will not be in position to host this year’s Milton Obote Memorial Lecture.

“By virtue of this situation, we will not be able to host the Milton Obote Memorial Lecture earlier scheduled for 16th November,” he said.

The UPC spokesperson, Michael Osinde; “We are praying and believing God for the best knowing that there is no situation that is too hard for him. We want our mum fully recovered”.

“The party took a decision to postponed the memorial lecture to a later date after our mum has fully recovered,” he said.
