The Public Relations Association of Uganda is set to hold their PRAU Nite on September 28.
The out-going Governing Council led by Cynthia Mpanga will also officially handover to the newly elected leadership of the association headed by Sarah Kagingo. Preparations are in high gear for the #PRAUNite.
It follows the recent Annual General Meeting of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) held on September 1 at Fairway Hotel in Kampala during which a new Governing Council was elected.
According to the outgoing Acting Secretary General, Stella Nkini Ndiwalana, plans are in place for a smooth transition, to enable the new team start working.
“We have arranged meetings that will be facilitated by the outgoing team to give advice, handover reports and generally induct the new team members into the Governing Council”, said Stella Nkini Ndiwalana.
Jon Fisher, the outgoing Director of Programmes said: “We shall have a special PRAU Nite on Friday 28th September 2018 that will feature Jane Gitau, the Chairperson of Public Relations Society Kenya (PRSK)”.
Ms. Jane Gitau will deliver the keynote address at the nite.
He said that Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, the Cabinet Minister of Information Technology and Communications is also expected to attend the event as Guest of Honour in his capacity as the PRAU Patron and Minister of Information and ICT.
The venue for the PRAU Nite shall be announced in due course as the event date draws close.
At the just concluded AGM, the Managing Director of Soft Power Communications LLC, Sarah Kagingo was elected as the new PRAU President in an election that saw MTN Uganda’s Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager, Val Oketcho, elected to the post of Vice President.
Other elected officials include Secretary General – Eddie Oketcho, Deputy Secretary General – Sheila Naturinda, Treasurer – Charles Nsamba, Director, PR – Simon Kasyate and Director of Programmes – Sumin Namaganda.
Director, Discipline – Alfred Geresom Musamali was retained while Kezia Koburungi (KIU) and Roland Ssebuliba (Ndejje University) were elected as the new student representatives.
“Ms. Kagingo promises to lead the new Governing Council to pursue statutory recognition, improve media and external stakeholder relations, form strategic alliances with PRAU’s sister associations, champion the formation of a fully functional secretariat and increase membership of the association, among others,” PRAU’s outgoing Director of Public Relations, Paul Mwirigi said in a statement.
