Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he is still a member of the Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance.

Speaking during a church service in Mwingi, Uhuru declared that when asked about his party, he says he is in Azimio.

“Mimi watu wakiniuliza nawaambia mimi ni mtu wa Azimio, hapo ndio niko, mimi sio mtu wa utapeli,” he said.

(I am a member of Azimio, that is what I tell people. I am not a conman).

Uhuru urged the leaders to stay the course and be loyal to ensure that the country is in a better place.

“Lazima tuhakishe kwamba nchi yetu iko sawa, watoto wameenda shule na kuna amani,” he said.

“Tusiwe viongozi wenye tamaa. Let us not engage ourselves in the negative politics.”

The former president added that it is not time to be afraid of anything, but to stay the course.

“Tulitishwa mara ee, sijui ooh, tumeambiwa sijui nini, sijui serikali iliopita ooh, tumezoea, kwa sasa kila mtu afanye shughuli yake, na tusonge mbele pamoja,” he added.

The former President has kept a low profile since he finished his term and handed over power in September 2022.

In July, the former Head of State drove himself to the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Centre in Karen where he joined other Azimio leaders in the interdenominational prayer service

The prayer service by the opposition doubled up as a mass to mourn supporters who lost their lives in the anti-government protests.

It was the first time he was publicly attending a function led by the Azimio team.

The last time he attended a public function was during the Jubilee National Delegates Convention (NDC) at the Ngong Racecourse early this year.
