The Uganda Medical Internship Committee Secretariat has concluded the placement of medical interns for a period of one year.

This will take effect from August 5, 2024 to July 31, 2025.

This placement of Medical Interns covers graduates who completed their courses in 2023 and before.

The group has been outstanding since last year as a backlog. The deployment takes into account the training facilities in place.

According to Dr Henry G Mwebesa, the Commissioner for Health Services at Ministry of Health, graduates of 2024 will be deployed in future.

“All the deployed interns are requested to report to their stations by 5th August 2024,” he said.

He asked all hospital directors and superintendents to make immediate arrangements to ensure commencement of the program on time.

Dr Mwebesa further directed directors and superintendents to submit the list of the candidates that have reported not later that 19th August 2024 to facilitate processing of their allowances.

He revealed that the monthly payment of the Medical Interns is Shs1,000,000 net.
