Police in Mbarara are investigating circumstances under which a Primary School teacher was killed by unknown panga wielding people.

According to ASP Samson Kasasira, the Police spokesperson for Rwizi region, the deceased was reported missing on Friday last week while coming from his work place.

He was identified as Philbert Mujuni, 30, a teacher at Nice Parks Primary School in Koranorya trading centre, Biharwe Division in Mbarara municipality.

Kasasira says the body was picked in a farm in Migamba cell Kakiika Division.

The scene was visited by Police homicide team who found the deceased’s body with multiple cuts and his head and arms detached from the main parts.

Police said the body was taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

ASP Kasasira said the motive of the killers is yet to be known.

One suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder. The arrest was made over the weekend, however, Police declined to reveal details of the suspect which they said could jeopardize the investigations.

The case is registered at Mbarara CPS under CRB 108/2019.
