Uganda’s marathon great, Joshua Cheptegei, has won the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon (21km) in a provisional time of 59:46 minutes.
The reigning world and Olympic champion won the elite race which was flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
He was followed by Kenyan runners Alex Matata (59:53) and Nicholas Kipkorir (59:59) who came second and third, respectively.
Ethiopia’s Alemaddis Eyayu won the women’s title at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon in a time of 01:08:17.
She was followed by Kenya’s Cynthia Limo (1:08:27) of Kenya and Ethiopia’s Tiruye Mesfin (1:09:42) in the second and third place, respectively.
Among the domestic runners, Sawan Barwal ran his personal best time of 1:02:46 to win the elite race while Lili Das (1:18:12) took the women’s title.
The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is a World Athletics gold-label Road race event.
