Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, along with members of the university management, has officially handed over field activity buses to three colleges.
They are; the College of Health Sciences, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources, and Biosecurity.
Speaking at the handover ceremony held at Freedom Square on Monday, February 3, 2025, Prof. Nawangwe emphasised the significance of the new buses in facilitating student mobility for practical training.
“With university farmlands spread across the country and partner hospitals both in and outside Kampala, the buses will ease travel for students undertaking field and practical training,” he noted.
Prof. Nawangwe also expressed gratitude to the Parliament of Uganda for allocating funds that enabled the university to acquire the buses.
He reaffirmed Makerere University’s commitment to enhancing students’ academic experiences by providing the necessary resources for hands-on learning.
The newly acquired buses, which are elegantly branded, will improve accessibility to training sites, ensuring that students in these colleges receive quality practical education.
