The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially announced the return of Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye to his position as Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI).
This marks the conclusion of Col Chris Magezi’s one-month interim tenure in the role.
Col Magezi, who has been serving in an acting capacity while Maj Gen Kulayigye was on leave, confirmed the handover in a formal statement on Thursday, noting that the general public and media stakeholders should take note of the leadership transition.
“The substantive Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI), Major General Felix Kulayigye, has resumed official duties after a short period away on leave. I have ceased to act accordingly,” Col Magezi stated.
Maj Gen Kulayigye’s return is expected to restore continuity in the UPDF’s public communication efforts, as he resumes responsibility for interfacing with the media and sharing updates on defence operations and policies.
The UPDF made the announcement through its official channels, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and engagement with the public under the stewardship of its seasoned spokesperson.
