Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has accused Minister Beti Kamya Turomwe of attempts to bribe KCCA councillors to support the removal of age limit.
Addressing journalists on Thursday at City Hall, Lukwago said that Kamya has been working behind the scenes to take some of the councillors to Kyankwanzi for a purported leadership training but he said all this is aimed at influencing them to support lifting of the age limit.
“They will meet president Museveni in Kyankwanzi and will declare their support for removal of the age limit but we shall not be party to it,” Lukwago told journalists.
“As KCCA we are not part of this program because we have made our position clear on the bill.”
Lukwago said that part of the deal by Kamya is to disguise the meeting as a leadership training at Kyankwanzi but its real aim is to indoctrinate the KCCA councillors into supporting the age limit bill which he said is wrong.
He said he would summon a council meeting that would denounce the actions by a section of KCCA councillors.
