Ms Lisa Chesney MBE has been appointed the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Uganda.
Ms Chesney will take up her appointment in October 2024.
She succeeds Kate Airey OBE who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
Kate Airey was appointed UK High Commissioner at the end of 2019, and assumed office in 2020.
Since 2021, Ms Chesney, has been serving as the UK High Commissioner to Sierra Leone.
She has also served iin various international diplomacy positions including at the Home Office, Head of the Counter- Extremism Unit and leading the COVID-19 Recovery and Change efforts.
She was also the Deputy Head of the Security Policy Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
In 2015 to 2018,she served as the Deputy Head of Mission in Mogadishu and Head of Politics and Strategic Communications in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, among others.
