The Electoral Commission (EC) has finalized the nominations of candidates for the Dokolo District Woman MP by-election.
Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, the daughter of the late Cecilia Ogwal, was nominated on the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.
The late Ogwal’s family recently fronted Alwoc to replace her mother who passed away recently.
On Monday March 11, 2024, six candidates were nominated for that seat.
They included; Adongo Janet Rose (NRM), Alwoc Austin Ogwal Rosemary (FDC), Aguti Sarah (UPC), Akullo Esther-Obot (IND), Ageno Harriet (NUP),& Lalam Grace Hanna (IND).
The winner will replace the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal who died in India where she was receiving treatment for cancer.
On day two, Tuesday 12, Rebecca Arao, an independent candidate, was also duly nominated by the Dokolo district presiding officer, Stephen Ngobi Erikwaine.
According to the electoral commission, the candidates will campaign for only seven days ahead of voting exercise which will take place on March 21.
