He said rescue teams continue their search for victims of the boat accident.

According to Onyango, the recovered bodies have been taken to the City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations.

They include; Nankya Winnie, 29, Rugose Zam Mutesi Angel, 35, Nabisele Galdyce, 40, Namulondo Proscovia, 44, and Najuna Edith, 30.

The boat was carrying 34 people on the day of the accident.

Of these, 20 people were confirmed dead and 9 were rescued.

The boat which was carrying bags of charcoal, fresh foods, and silverfish, among others, capsized due to overloading and bad weather.

“Unfortunately, the rescue efforts are facing challenges due to the rough conditions of the lake and heavy rainfall. The combined efforts of the Police Marines, UPDF Marines, and residents persist in their mission to locate and recover all missing persons,” said Onyango.
