The incident is said to have occured on Thursday morning at around 2am.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Matte says Police was notified on Thursday morning and visited the scene where the child was retrieved.

Matte says that the infant was still alive by 2pm and it, together with the mother have since been rushed to Kihihi Health Centre IV for first aid.

Investigations to establish why Arinitwe wanted to kill the baby have commenced before she is charged.

“I want to caution the public. If God gave you that pregnancy and you persisted with it for nine months, why do you then take the life of an innocent child?” Elly Matte said.

He also added; “That’s why we can’t take it for granted. We must deal with her [suspect] accordingly”.
