An alarm raised by the neighborhors attracted a security guard who was guarding a nearby residence. The security guard then discharged bullets in the air to scare the thugs away.

“He [guard] shot in the air to warn them but they ran. He shot one who died on spot. Two others escaped and on searching the dead person, a mobile phone that he had just stolen from one of the victims was found with him and a laptop,” Onyango said in a statement.

Relatedly, Police in Kampala has arrested three thieves who were found unscrewing the Air Conditioning system at EAGEN House along Kampala Road.

According to Onyango, the incident happened at around 3am when Police on foot patrol noticed the suspected robbers and immediately alerted Police 999 patrol car who moved and surrounded the house.

He says “they (thieves) were arrested with the exhibits of ACs that they had just dismantled, four screw drivers, and four pillars.”

The suspects were identified as Ligan Nzuiko, Sandrika Sunday and Mukigike Sam all residents of Kisenyi Central Division in Kampala and are currently detained at Central Police Station Kampala.

They face charges of burglary and theft.

Onyango says in an attempt to weed out thugs from the city, Police has intensified patrols in Kampala Metropolitan areas.
