The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has rallied Ugandans and fellow legislators to vote for Uganda’s beauty queen, Quiin Abenakyo in the ongoing Miss World contest.
The Speaker made the call during her communication to the legislators on Wednesday. Kadaga noted that Abenakyo is a Ugandan who is lifting the country’s flag high and should be accorded all the relevant support.
Kadaga’s comes following an aggressive campaign that Ugandans embarked on since the beginning of the week after Abenakyo made it to the Top 30 Finalists in the Miss World Competition.
The Miss World 2018 beauty contest which is ongoing in Sanya, China will be climaxed on December 8.
Reigning Miss Uganda, Quiin Abenakyo went head to head with Miss Argentina to pitch the projects they intend to achieve for their countries and she emerged winner in the duo.
Abenakyo becomes the very first Miss Uganda to reach the Miss World Top 30 contestants. And this achievement has got Ugandans upbeat. For days now, messages have been circulating on different social media platforms urging everyone to vote for Abenakyo.
“We have been talking about promoting Uganda and there is a young Ugandan who is promoting Uganda in the Miss World Competition, she is called Brenda Abenakyo. I want to appeal to members to vote for her because everyday she is representing Uganda,” Speaker Kadaga said on Wednesday.
Different government agencies including the Uganda Media Centre and Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as corporate companies, celebrities and individuals have all joined the efforts to root for Abenakyo.
On social media, messages calling on people to vote for Miss Uganda, continue to make rounds.
