Wakiso District Resident Commissioner (RDC), Justine Mbabazi, has been elected as the Dean of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and and Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) in Uganda.
Her election which was directly supervised by the Minister for Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, took place on Tuesday during the ongoing RDC/RCC induction retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI), Kyankwanzi.
Mbabazi sailed through unopposed.
Sebastian Oguti, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Lamwo, was elected the Deputy Dean.
The Dean of RDCs and RCCs is responsible for carrying the commissioners’ voices in decision-making to the Presidency.
The Dean helps to bridge the gap between the center and the RDCs’ office.
“Congratulations to the workaholic and loyal Justine Mbabazi upon being elected Dean of RDCs and RCCs. Your election should mark a new chapter of better coordination between the Center and Districts/Cities,” Babalanda said.
She also advised commissioners to have regional whips to assist the Dean and be responsible for chairing regional caucuses.
Present at the event was Brig. Gen. Charles Kisembo, the Director of NALI and Mr. Willis Bashasha, the Director of Manifesto Implementation Unit, Presidency Office and State House officials as well as RDCs/RCCs secretariat Commissioners.
