“We are thrilled to celebrate 11 years in Uganda with our customers, partners, staff and associates and as is tradition, we will have amazing offers across all categories like phones, TVs, appliances, fashion and more.”

He also shared the insights on how Jumia has become cheaper and will soon be cheaper than putting your items on a bus when sending them upcountry.

“The value we bring to your customers as vendors is immense as before, it wasn’t possible to have things like “returns” but on Jumia, your customer is assured of a return in case they aren’t satisfied with the product.” he said.

Eng. Irene Kaggwa Ssewankambo, the Executive Director of Uganda Communications Commission, who graced the event as the Chief Guest, commended Jumia for pioneering and championing innovations that have disrupted the traditional e-commerce model in Uganda.

She highlighted the ripple effect it has had on the market, presenting numerous opportunities for Business-to-Business and Business-to-Customer interactions due to the elimination of physical limitations in its business model.

“Jumia has connected buyers and sellers and in this, transformed the lives of Ugandans like we saw during the pandemic.”

She added: Because of Jumia, people don’t even need to rent expensive storage for their items. They have opened up opportunities in the e-commerce industry like employment and also provided consumer choice which is important to us as a regulator.”

At the event, dfcu Bank was announced as the Platinum Sponsor of the 2023 Jumia Anniversary Sale which will run from June 5th to July 2nd, 2023.

For 30 days, dfcu Bank customers will enjoy a discount of up to 10% on all purchases made using dfcu Visa Debit or Credit Cards.
