Airtel Uganda launches ‘Airtel Smart Plans’ service

Airtel Uganda has launched a new service that allows Airtel customers to enjoy data, voice, and SMS resources in a single access.

The product is tailored toward enabling access to affordable communication services for the SMEs to operate their business and for families to connect with their loved ones.

Speaking at the launch of the Airtel Smart Plans held at Sheraton Kampala on Wednesday 25th May 2022, Amit Kapur, the Chief Commercial Officer who represented the Managing Director, Manoj Murali, said they have now added the Airtel Smart Plans to their products and service portfolio.

“The product has been designed to enable our customers that wish to consolidate their communications solutions for data, calls and SMS,” Kapur said.

According to him, the solution is suitable for SMEs, Corporations, NGOs, professionals like doctors, lawyers, and even families with more than two users.

Airtel Smart Plans are categorized into two: Platinum and Gold. The Platinum goes for Shs250,000 and comes with 150 GB, 2000 Minutes, 1000 SMS, Free Airtel TV and 30-Days Free ShowMax.

Gold is priced at Shs150,000 and comes with 75 GB, 2000 Minutes, 1000 SMS, Free Airtel TV and 30 Days Free ShowMax.

Showmax is an online subscription video on demand service which launched in South Africa on 19 August 2015.

Showmax uses a localisation strategy to take on established video on demand competitors with a focus on local content and partnerships with mobile telcos.

“We remain committed to fluency in the provision of these services so that our customers can concentrate on their core business,” said Kapur.

Henry Njoroge, the Airtel Uganda Marketing Director, said their vision is to empower Ugandans and were the first telecom to have a 4G network.

“We are pleased to introduce the Airtel Smart Plans that have been designed to enable our customers to access a one-stop solution for businesses, families and people who offer professional services.”

Njoroge said the Airtel Smart Plans offer data, voice, and SMS resources in a single post-paid, hustle-free access.

The Airtel SmartPlans can be activated by the customers in the comfort of their offices, living rooms or boardrooms by dialling *188#.

They will be able to pay for the service using Airtel Money.

During the unveiling ceremony, Airtel held a draw to give away five gold packages of the Airtel Smart Plans to five lucky winners.

The gold package has 75 GB, 2000 Minutes, 1000 SMS, Free Airtel TV monthly and 30 Days Free ShowMax for the 1st month.

The winners include media personalities such as; Sandra Kahunde (UBC TV), Nareeba Steven (Galaxy FM), Nankya Rachel (Bukedde TV), Charles Katabalwa (Radio Sapientia) and Rogers Atukunda (edge.ug and SoftPower News).

Airtel Smart Plans have been designed to enable customers access a one-stop worry-free solution for businesses, families and people who offer professional services.

Airtel Smart Plan customers will;

 Be able to share these resources using Tugabane

 Receive one-month free ShowMax Subscription

 Receive one-month free Airtel TV Subscription

 Have priority service whenever they call the Call Centre

 Have preferential roaming rates to all travel destinations.
