Buganda Broadcasting Services (BBS) Television journalist and SoftPower News writer, Pat Robert Larubi is hospitalized after he was attacked by suspected thugs on Tuesday night.

Larubi is said to have been leaving his work place at the BBS Television studios at Masengere, Mengo when he was badly assaulted by goons. A friend of his that SoftPower News contacted late on Tuesday said the incident occurred at around 8pm.

He was later rushed to Mengo hospital where he was shortly admitted before getting a referral to Nakasero hospital for a computed tomography (CT) scan procedure, to establish the severity of his injury.

His wife, Prischa Larubi says she received a call at 10 pm from Pat’s phone and the callers said, “come to Mengo, this person is sick”.

She dashed to the hospital to discover that Pat had been hit on the side of the head, slightly over the ear area.

According to Prischa, Pat was rushed to Mengo hospital by his BBS work colleagues.

His camera and laptop which he had been carrying in his back bag were stolen by the thugs. It isn’t clear how many they were in number.

“A CT scan of the head was done from Nakasero hospital but he was returned to Mengo. We are expecting the CT scan results today,” the wife told this website at 6 am on Wednesday.

Asked about the state in which the journalist was in, she said Pat had just slept after enduring a long night of pain.

It has become a common trend for individuals, especially those seen to be carrying back bags, to be targeted by robbers in Kampala city. The thugs often target to rob cameras, laptops and other devices that can not be traced back.
