Ugandan music legend Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone is set to celebrate 25 years in music with a concert dubbed ‘Legend in Gold.’ The concert is slated for Saturday, August 31, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The concert comes a year and six months after Chameleone’s ‘Gwanga Mujje’ show that rocked Kampala.
Chameleone revealed that the ‘Legend in Gold’ concert is not just a concert but a celebration of his legacy.
“Last year was a concert, but this year is a celebration of my legacy,” the Leone Island boss stated, promising revelers an unforgettable experience.
To mark 25 years in the industry, Chameleone will perform his biggest hits over the years, offering a cocktail of nostalgic favorites and exciting new ones.
I&M Bank Uganda who celebrated their golden jubilee at the same venue in June are the official bank partners for the concert.
The bank’s partnership with the concert is aimed at furthering their golden legacy and highlight their commitment to supporting landmark events on Uganda’s culture and heritage scene.
“I&M Bank is honored to be a part of this landmark concert. This is a follow up of our golden jubilee celebrations a few weeks ago,” said Annette Nakiyaga, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs.
She added, “We are committed to enriching Uganda’s cultural scene and we believe that by supporting key figures like Jose Chameleone, we play a role in shaping our community’s identity and heritage.”
The ‘Legend In Gold’ concert tickets had originally been set at USD100 (about Shs 370k) for a bronze ticket, but the concert organiser, comedian Hannington Bugingo, said they brought the price down to UgShs 200,000 after discussions with I&M Bank and other partners. An eight-seater table is going for UgShs 5m.
