The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry Uganda (ICCIU) has officially joined the Kampala City Festival 2025 as a Gold Sponsor, presenting a cheque worth UGX 75 million to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
The sponsorship was unveiled today at City Hall, in a ceremony attended by leaders from both institutions. The festival, set for October 5 at Kololo Independence Grounds, will run under the theme “Celebrating Kampala: Culture, Innovation, and Sustainability.”
A major highlight of this year’s edition is the introduction of a Halal Village — a new space dedicated to showcasing Halal businesses, culture, food, and innovation. For the first time, Muslims will fully participate in the city’s largest cultural event, making the festival more inclusive than ever.

Nooh Muhammad Mayambala, President of ICCIU, described the development as historic: “This time, Muslims will actively participate through the Halal Village. We are making the festival more inclusive, more Halal, and this is an opportunity to promote wanainchi and the wider Kampala community. This marks a continuation of our cooperation with KCCA.”
Sarah Kanyike, Senior Presidential Advisor on Islamic Affairs, pledged to mobilise Muslims and other residents to take part: “This is a festival for all people of Kampala. As leaders, it is upon us to mobilise our communities. The success of this festival will also be my success because it will mean that I have contributed a stone to its foundation.”

KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, hailed the Chamber as the first confirmed sponsor of the 2025 festival: “You have stood with us on this journey of developing Kampala. As Gold Sponsors, you are entitled to use the festival logo, enjoy co-branding rights, sell products, and gain significant visibility during the event.”
KCCA Deputy Executive Director, Benon Kigenyi, reminded the public that the festival is just 33 days away, praising ICCIU for leading the way with their sponsorship.
The event was also attended by Erias Kitonya, ICCIU Secretary General; Shiela Birungi, Festival Organising Committee Chairperson; and Monica Nyakaisiki, Vice Chairperson.
