President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will host H.E. Sayyid Ebrahim Raisolsadati, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on an official visit.
The visit will start on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, and conclude on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
According to Faruk Kirunda the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, on the first day, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks at State House, Entebbe, and address the media at 11 am. The address will also be relayed live on Television.
In the afternoon, the two Heads-Of-State will address a business forum at Al-Mustafa University, Kyengera.
Kirunda noted that the visit by the Iranian leader is aimed at strengthening cooperation and trade between the two sister countries.
Last year, President Museveni met and discussed with H.E. Dr Mahdi Safari, the Deputy Foreign Minister In Charge of Economic Diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran at State House, Entebbe.
Dr Safari informed the President that Uganda would be among the East African countries that the Iranian President, H.E Sayyid Ebrahim Raisolsadati Raisi, will visit in Africa in the near future.
“We are ready to cooperate with East African countries in trade and other developmental initiatives,” H.E Safari told H.E Museveni who welcomed Raisi’s visit, saying the two countries enjoy good working relations.
“We will be honoured to welcome H.E Raisi and receive him here. I have been to Iran myself about four times and I have welcomed several Presidents of Iran here. So H.E Raisi will be very welcome,” H.E Museveni said.
