The Iranian Cultural Counselor in Uganda, Abdollah Abbasi, has urged the global community to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as declared by Imam Khomeini.
Speaking at Quds Day celebrations, held at Kampala University, Abbasi emphasized the need to reflect on the oppressed Palestinian people, who are affected by the tyrannical western countries supporting Israel’s regime.
H.E. Majid Saffar, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda, called upon participants to defend Palestine, noting that it’s a humanitarian issue affecting all servants of God, regardless of background.
Issah Katungulu Luyimbaazi gave an overview of the Quds Day (lit. ‘Jerusalem Day’), officially known as International Quds Day (Persian: روز جهانی قدس: Ruz Jahâni Quds). He revealed that the Quds Day, established by Imam Khomeini in 1979, expresses support for Palestinians and opposes Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem.
Associate Prof. Dr. Nabukeera Madinah Sebyala, the Director of Islamic University in Uganda, Female campus recognised the charismatic leadership of Imam Khomeini who declared this important event on the last Friday during the Islamic month of Ramadhan.
Dr. Rouhollah Dehghani the principal of Al-mustafa Islamic College Kyengera noted that struggle of Karbala should be the message to drive free thinkers towards spirituality, solidarity and love to the oppressed nations including Palestine among others.
Speakers emphasized the importance of educating children and youth about the ongoing injustices in the Middle East and promoting solidarity with oppressed nations.
The event, organized by the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kampala University, attracted high-level dignitaries, including ambassadors, academia, and religious leaders.
