The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Martin Okoth Ochola, has promoted 9,312 subordinate officers.
Deputy Police Spokesperson, CP Polly Namaye, says the promotions take effect from June 1, 2023.
She said the promotions were based on many requirements including seniority, a record of work, an acting position, exemplary performance such as in operations and executing given tasks and a discipline record.
A total of 1,145 officers have been promoted from Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) to Inspector of Police (IP).
Five officers were promoted from Head Constable Major (HCM) to Inspector (IP).
Three officers were promoted from Head Constable (HC) to Head Constable Major (HCM).
Others include; 28 officers from Station Sergeant to Head Constable, 1,531 officers from Sergeant (Sgt) to AIP, 2,644 officers from Corporal (Cpl) to Sergeant and 3,956 officers from Police Constable to Corporal.
“We congratulate the officers and their families upon this well-deserved occasion of their promotion. We encourage them and other officers to continue serving the public diligently,” Namaye said.
