Kawempe North MP elect Muhammad Ssegirinya has scoffed at his political rivals who claim he used falsified academic documents to be nominated to contest for the position.
Ssegirinya was dragged to court by Serwadda Sulaiman Kidandala on allegations that the UCE and UACE certificates he used belonged Nampiima Sarah and Nabadda Maureen respectively both former students of Mengo Secondary School not Pimbas Secondary School where Ssegirinya claims to have studied.
UNEB officially confirmed that the index and serial numbers on the certificates in question are not in any way attached to Ssegirinya.

However, Ssegirinya has used his Twitter account to show off a file allegedly containing his documents, noting that he will display them at the right time, to shame his rivals.
“My documents are here and I should by the way have released them for you all to see, but I won’t for now simply because my enemies lack evidence. I don’t want to give it to them, let them table whatever they have first and then I release mine last,” noted the Comic MP elect.
“My brain functions so well. I know these people wanted to provoke me into releasing my documents but I won’t,” he added.
Ssegirinya further assured his supporters that he harboured ambitions to become a legislator and prepared for more than ten years and as such, he has all the necessary academic credentials.
In his petition to the High Court, Kidandala wants Court to declare that Ssegirinya is not the duly elected Kawempe North Constituency MP.
He alleges that Ssegirinya was, at the time of his election as directly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North Constituency, not qualified to be a Member of Parliament as he allegedly did not complete the minimum required
formal education of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and Uganda Certificate of Education.
“I also state that an illegal practice or other offence under the Parliamentary Elections Act was committed in connection with the election of the 1st respondent (Ssegirinya Muhammad), personally or with knowledge and consent or approval, when he forged Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and Uganda Certificate of Education documents relating to holding of the election,” reads Kidandala’s petition in parts.
He also alleges that Ssegirinya was not a registered voter of Kawempe North Constituency at the time of the January 14 Parliamentary Elections.
He wants an order setting aside Ssegirinya’s election and also declare him (Kidandala) who was the second in the race as duly elected.
He as well prays that Court orders both the Electoral Commission and Ssegirinya Muhammad to pay the costs of the petition.
