Uganda’s paralympic swimmer, Husnah Kukundakwe, has won a gold medal at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games taking place in Konya, Turkey.
This is her second medal in the same competition.
On the opening day of the games over the weekend, Kukundakwe won a silver medal in the 400m Freestyle S9 event.
“I am honoured and happy for winning Uganda’s first medal at the 2021 ISSF Games that are ongoing in Konya Turkey,” she said.
The young swimmer followed up on her feat to achieve an even greater feat on Tuesday when she won a gold in the 200m IM at the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF).
“Four medals so far and I am still eying more God Willing…” She tweeted.
She added: “I have not disappointed you, thanks for the support @GovUganda @Parliament_Ug @Para_swimming for making me @craigspence my mentor.”
Uganda is competing in athletics, archery, basketball 3×3, cycling, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, para swimming, judo, shooting and wrestling at the Islamic Games.
