The historic unveiling at Hisense Headquarters in Bugolobi was graced by the Third Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, and marked the product’s debut in East Africa.

The launch event, attended by top government officials, business leaders, and technology enthusiasts, showcased the Hisense 116UX, a next-generation television first introduced at the CES Consumer Electronics Show.

The model boasts cutting-edge TriChroma RGB Mini-LED technology for unprecedented colour accuracy, brightness, and contrast. Despite its massive size, the TV is 20% more energy-efficient than conventional screens and features immersive Harman Kardon sound enhanced by Devialet and Dolby Atmos, as well as a solar-powered remote control.

Hisense Reaffirms Commitment to Uganda

Speaking at the launch, Jason Ou Yang, President of Hisense Middle East & Africa (MEA) and India, highlighted Uganda’s strategic role in the company’s global expansion plans:

“Uganda represents a key market for us. By introducing the world’s largest RGB Mini-LED TV here, we are not just showcasing technology—we are investing in local potential and strengthening our ties with Ugandan consumers,” he said.

Ou Yang also announced plans to open Hisense’s largest technology museum in Africa later this year in Uganda and reaffirmed Hisense’s official sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup 2026, underscoring the company’s global sports partnerships with FIFA, Real Madrid, and the Euro Cup.

In her keynote speech, Hon. Nakadama commended Hisense for combining innovation with community impact: “Hisense is demonstrating that business and compassion can walk hand in hand. Their focus on education, skills development, and innovation reflects the kind of private-sector partnership Uganda needs for sustainable growth,” she said.

Nakadama lauded Hisense’s donation of 50 smart TVs to public schools and called on other companies to follow its example in supporting education and empowering communities.

Local Initiatives to Inspire the Next Generation

Ms Liu Mingshu, Managing Director of Smartec Electronics Limited, announced a series of educational and entrepreneurship programs, including: Hisense Cup Tournaments in chess, football, and golf to nurture young talent and online classes in science, mathematics, and art for Ugandan students through partnerships with schools in China.

Other initiatives include free Chinese language programs provided by Shenyang Petrochemical College, the establishment of the Hisense Technology Museum in December 2025 for hands-on science learning experiences and a 100-square-meter free co-working space for young entrepreneurs, paired with monthly mentorship sessions from business leaders.

“We want to create opportunities for the next generation and use technology to transform lives,” Ms Liu said, inviting Ugandans to share ideas under the theme ‘What Can We Do for Uganda?’

Transforming Home Entertainment

With the launch of the 116-inch RGB Mini-LED TV, Hisense has set a new benchmark for home entertainment in Uganda, combining ultra-premium technology, energy efficiency, and immersive experiences.
