He revealed that government is providing land, reliable electricity and working on roads in industrial parks, favorable policies, to help investors offload some of the costs and challenges they face.

He made the remarks while touring the new production line at the Roofings Namanve plant. Kasaija was accompanied by Evelyn Anite, State Minister for Finance in charge of Investments and Privatization.

He noted that he was impressed by Dr. Sikander Lalani’s (Chairman Roofing’s group) commitment to prioritize value addition as well as creating employment for Ugandans.

“We thank Mzee Lalani for spending all his energy and money while establishing this plant which has provided employment to 17000 people, just imagine if this country has more 100 Lalalanis, that means more 17000 jobs” he said.

Kasaija noted, “We are to make sure that Roofing’s succeed, the few challenges they are facing like the adjacent road, we already have a contractor on ground who is handling that.”

On her part, Anite noted that the government is on track to complete the ongoing road construction project near the Roofings factory.

She revealed that the funds required for the road project have already been allocated, and any remaining obstacles will be swiftly addressed.

“We have all the funds needed for the road project. It’s now about ensuring that every issue is resolved quickly so that we can meet our deadlines and avoid further delays,” she added.

On his part, Lalani noted that the Roofings project can not be smoothly executed without government’s support and collaboration.

He thanked the government for the continuous support it has rendered to the manufacturers which has given them room for expanding their production line.

“We started up here 17 years ago when the whole place was a forest full of trees and the President promised me full support. The government has been able to give us power, water and good infrastructure,” he said.

He noted that because of government support and collaboration, he is able to export roofing’s products to the region.
