The Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, has officially released the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examination results for 2024.

The announcement, made on Friday, March 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the 140,088 candidates who sat for the exams between November 13 and December 1, 2024.

A Milestone for Learners and the Education Sector

“We congregate here this afternoon in recognition of the milestone attained by the one hundred forty thousand and eighty-eight learners who sat for the #UACE2024 examinations,” Hon. Museveni stated.

She emphasised that this release is the final set of the three end-of-cycle examinations administered annually by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

Commending UNEB for its efficiency, Hon. Museveni highlighted the challenges faced in 2024, particularly managing the transition between the old and new lower secondary curricula.

“On behalf of the Government of Uganda, I want to appreciate UNEB for the work they do. In 2024, we had to administer the pioneer UCE examinations under the revised Lower Secondary Curriculum as well as winding up end-of-cycle examinations under the old curriculum,” she remarked.

UNEB’s Diligence in Delivering Results on Time

Drawing from a local saying about wrestling, Hon. Museveni likened UNEB’s dedication to a wrestler who must quickly pin down their opponent to satisfy onlookers.

“UNEB is that wrestler. We appreciate the diligent efforts put in to ensure that each year, candidates and their parents receive the end-of-cycle results on time,” she stated.

“The work done to see that nearly 1.3 million learners who sat their PLE, UCE, and now UACE examinations in 2024 receive their results for proper planning is a milestone we should not take for granted.”

She underscored that the timely release of results is a testament to hard work, adding, “Good things don’t just happen; hard work always bears fruit. It’s only a matter of time.”

Increase in UACE Candidature

Hon. Museveni called for a closer examination of the factors contributing to the significant increase in the number of candidates sitting for UACE in 2024 compared to previous years.

“When we allow ourselves to see the release of these results as another annual routine, we miss a salient message that is being communicated—not only about the performance of learners but also the health of our education system,” she noted.

How to Access UACE Results via SMS

To ensure easy access to the #UACE2024 results, candidates, parents, and stakeholders can retrieve results using the SMS service:

Type UACE  Full Student Index Number (e.g., U0000/501), send the message to 6600 and receive the student’s UACE results instantly.

The Ministry of Education and Sports and UNEB have also provided official social media handles and websites for further inquiries and support.
